tramperTramping/bushwalking
Enjoy the rugged beauty of the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park with its beautiful native bush, cascading waterfalls and an abundance of walking and hiking tracks suitable for all ages and fitness levels. All this 30 minutes from our doorstep.

Arataki Visitor Centre
It is a good idea to make Arataki “the pathway to learning”, your first
stop so as to learn more about the park's facilities but the Centre has a
lot to offer as a destination in its own right. The park offers a variety of recreational activities including swimming, surfing, tramping, fishing, boating, horse riding, running, walking, picnicking, camping, canyoning, sightseeing or simply relaxing. The sunsets are nothing short of spectacular.

Beaches
The bush clad park is framed on its western side by Auckland’s wild west coast bordered by the Tasman Sea. Its beaches - Bethells/Te Henga, Karekare, Piha - with their huge waves and never ending black sands are one big outdoors adventure and the scenery and surf are BIG. However if you are not into surfing or boogie boarding there are plenty of walking tracks.

Wineries
If you fancy something less energetic and more exciting to the palate than what better to do than hit the wine trail. There is no shortage of wine makers around West Auckland, mostly small, family owned businesses known as boutique wineries and often in picturesque countryside settings. You will be made welcome and given the opportunity to sample a variety of innovative wines and some wineries also have their own restaurant.

golf2Sport
Auckland's west coast beaches are not only famous for their black sands but also for the pumper surf. Surf Life Saving Competitions and Billabong Surf Competitions are a regular feature during the summer months.

The Rugby World Cup kicks of in 2011 with Eden Park just 20 minutes away.

Golf is another relaxing past time favoured by New Zealanders, visit one of our world class golf courses located just 15 minutes away.

Or you can just take it easy, relax on the decks or in the pool or try a bit of kayaking with our simple to use, sit-on kayak. Also, if you are keen on bird-life then bring your binoculars and watch and listen, you’ll be amazed at the variety. Equally there are some very pleasurable heritage walks around Te Atatu Peninsula with easy access at the bottom of our garden.
